About UsLa Calypso is Vancouver's only France Preschool. The children learn mainly in French, with a music lesson in English one time per week. We use the France curriculum, as school starts at the age of 3 in France. We alternate guided learning times and moments with free time during which they learn by themselves playing, handling and experimenting.
Moreover, the school aims at the overall and balanced development of each child. For that purpose, we focus especially on three learning trends: arts, close environment and ecology as Cousteau School is an accredited Eco-School (the only one in Vancouver). |
Our History |
La Calypso is part of Cousteau, Vancouver's only France International School with a BC Touch. A very unique independent, secular school in British Columbia offering the academic curriculum accredited by the Ministry of Education of France and by the British Columbia Ministry of Education. Cousteau is part of a network of 500 French International schools spread throughout 130 countries. In response to the interests expressed by several families living in Vancouver, Cousteau School decided to open a Preschool in South Granville in 2014 and be closer to these families.
Our Preschool bears the name La Calypso, the ship used by the French explorer and oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau, who was greatly involved in conservationism. A source of inspiration as Cousteau is accredited Eco-School by the Foundation for Environmental Education. |
